Pre-Algebra
This course uses the ABeka Pre-Algebra-Revised Edition Text and is designed to equip students for Algebra 1 and more advanced math studies. Our class will evaluate algebraic expressions, solve equations, identify signed numbers, find rational and irrational roots, graph equations, and much more The year starts with a strong cumulative reinforcement of the concepts and procedures upon which algebra is built. Then comes work with topics such as multiplying and dividing polynomials, complementary and supplementary angles, and algebraic word problems, giving your student a bridge to Algebra I. Concepts are explained through clear examples with step-by-step instructions and multiple practice opportunities. Students will be encouraged to take notes and ask questions during class and during the week via email and phone. Basic calculators may be utilized occasionally during this course but advanced notice will be given before they would be needed in class. WE MEET TWO TIMES A WEEK.
Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by asking questions through email, quick hw help sessions and in our chat area so that they can feel confident about what they are learning. Minimum 6 students Cost: 2 semester payments of $375 / $90 per month Aug. to April $30.00 one time supply fee for copies, supplies due by August Parent Meeting.
